About Dr. Jeffrey Cole

I am an engineering manager with 20+ years of I.T. professional experience and 7+ years of building, leading teams and organizations. Trained and experienced as an engineer, I understand how to optimize output at the intersection of big thinking and efficient results. Experiencing individual achievements have obliged me to mentor young technologists and coach mid-career professionals.

When I am not engineering, leading, mentoring and coaching, I co-operate a successful business with my wife. Additionally, through our strategic real estate investing, we have acquired a portfolio of real estate properties for short, mid and long term leasing and multi-purpose.

Sr. Enterprise Support Manager - AWS
June 2020 - Present
Building and leading a team of 14 engineers, while growing a technical consultation business beyond 40+ clients in two industries. Led cross-organizational initiatives amongst 4000+ builders to improve efficiency and save $30M worth of headcount.
Sr. Technical Account Manager - AWS
February 2019 - June 2020
Consulted and guided public sector customers to optimally use AWS services, while helping customers globally adopt AWS network related services.
Chief Network Architect - Harris Corporation
July 2017 - July 2018
Directed a team of network architects to propose solutions for RFPs in modernizing a 15-year old telecommunications network. Led research in addressing RFP requirements and design proposals. Maintained the operations of a network through a network engineering team.
Network Consulting Architect - GCI

Oversaw the modernization of two production networks, while aligning network overlays with new customer services and product development.
Resident Consulting Engineer - Juniper Networks
May 2016 - April 2017

Consulted with a media service provider using Juniper networks to modernize their national network security, data center connectivity and end-user services. Contracted through Cole Consulting Group, a technical outsourcing company and Juniper Networks, delivering network consultation.

  • Collaborated with network security architects to design and implement a centralized network security architecture.
  • Contributed to the design, testing and implementation of overlay networks to moderenize a data center.
  • Researched and tested a beta project to service end-customers with modern access to the service provider
Network Engineer - ATT Labs
December 2015 - May 2016
Led nationwide data center consolidation supporting video multicast environments within multiple regions across the United States. Contributed to network data center modernization design project.
Network Consultant - Stream Networks

Consulted network engineers on improving operations and visibility of a national network providing SIP-based VoIP services. Modernized data centers by redesigning, executing transition plans and implementing overlay networks. Executed an overhaul of a network security upgrade of equipment, software and design for a sanitation and recycling company.

After completing my Master’s degree and publishing my thesis, I redeeveloped the Senior Telecommunication course to modernizee the content to include MPLS and IP based networks. I taught the course for three consecutive semesters until Kennesaw State University acquired SPSU.
